As well as the editorial side of print journalism, I also have a wealth of skills and experience in the production of newspapers and magazines.
I have several years’ experience using InDesign and Photoshop to design and build pages for my student newspapers. During my time at the University of Stirling, I was appointed Music Editor of student newspaper Brig from September 2009 until May 2011. The role, among many other duties, required me to put together the music section pages and sub-edit the content for each monthly issue.
In 2009 and 2010, I won the award for ‘Best Section’ at the annual Brig Awards for my work as Music Editor.
Caledonian Chronicle was a weekly student newspaper I helped produce as part of my Masters degree in Multimedia Journalism. For this project, I undertook a different position each week, including Editor, Sub-Editor, Writer and various Section Editor positions, from Features to Business. As each weekly deadline drew closer, I assisted the Production Editor with last minute tasks.
In 2013, Caledonian Chronicle won the award for ‘Best Publication’ at the Scottish Student Journalism Awards.
